Bio: 
Shayna Bennett is a PhD student in applied mathematics at UC Merced working with Dr. Shilpa Khatri. She holds Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Environmental Science and Mathematics from Northern Vermont University. Her interest is modeling spatial movement of organisms to better understand the influence of physical and mental barriers. Her current research explores how diffusion equations can be used to describe the role of landscape features on the spreading rate of invasive species.
