Zunaria Iqbal

Bio:
Zunaira is a PhD student in the Cognitive & Information Science program. Her advisors are Dr. Kristina Backer and Dr. Michael Spivey. She graduated from University of California, Davis in 2019 with a B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in biology along with two minors in Linguistics and Spanish. Inspired by her work done with Dr. David Corina at UC Davis in cognitive neurolinguistics, Zunaira’s research passion is the intersection of language processing, neurobiology, and psychology. Currently, she is interested in using a McGurk-style paradigm to understand how language experience of Spanish-English bilinguals influences phonetic representations. She would like to use brain techniques such as EEG in her future research. Outside research, Zunaira enjoys eating grilled cheese, singing, practicing the guitar, and learning American Sign Language and Urdu.
